Can you use a grinder on goat hooves?
Tough-to-cut, overgrown, out-of-shape hooves may need to be worked on with a hand-held electric grinder – the kind with a 4-inch metal grinding wheel. Use the grinder to flatten the soles and the heel. The goat should walk upright on flat-bottomed feet, not on his pasterns. Stop grinding when the hoof feels hot.
How do you treat hoof scald in goats?
Sheep and goats can be treated every 5 to 7 days by standing them in a 10 percent zinc sulfate solution for up to 15 minutes to reduce the risk of infection. Another option for whole-herd treatment is the use of absorptive pads saturated with the zinc or copper sulfate solution.

The most important thing to do when conducting goat hoof trimming is it to make sure they are secure and unable to move. Putting the goat on a milk stand or grooming stand is very helpful.
